01How does the Mate Score actually work?
We pull your top artists and genres from Spotify (read-only, with your permission) and weight them: 60 points max from artist overlap, 40 points max from genre overlap, and a 10-point bonus if you share three or more artists. Scores below 5 hide the badge entirely. No self-reporting, no personality quizzes — real listening data only.
02Do I need a Spotify account?
Yes. The whole matching engine runs on real Spotify data. Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, and YouTube Music aren't supported yet — they're on the roadmap but not a promise. If Spotify isn't your main player, we're honestly not the right fit for you.
03Can I match with people outside my city?
Yes. We default to festivals near you, but if you're flying to Tomorrowland from Madrid you'll see Mates from anywhere going to that same event. Matching is festival-first, not city-first.
04How do squads work?
Once you match with compatible people, you can form a squad to coordinate shared packing lists, plan which artists to see together, and keep the group chat moving. Squads form weeks before the event, not last-minute.
05Is this a dating app?
No. Hard no. It's a squad-formation app. People do occasionally end up dating after a festival — that's life — but profiles don't have relationship intent and there's no 'swipe' mechanic. You send a mate request. Different energy.
06What does Pro actually unlock?
Unlimited daily vibes, full leaderboard access, streak freeze tokens, an animated Pro badge on your profile, priority in Discover, and priority support. €4.99/month or €49.99/year. Your matches, squads, badges, and passport stay with you on the Free plan forever.
07Which festivals are covered?
347+ across Europe and beyond with full lineups — Tomorrowland, Awakenings, Defqon.1, ADE, DGTL, Mysteryland, Dekmantel, Parookaville, Decibel, Time Warp, and plenty more. We add new ones every week based on user votes. Want one added? Email us.
08What's the Festival Passport?
Your personal festival history with collectible badges across four rarity tiers — Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Sunrise Survivor, First Drop, Squad Captain, Mainstage Marathon, and many more. Persistent across all your festivals, public on your profile, and surprisingly competitive.
09What's the raver archetype?
A personality profile based on your festival behavior and music taste. We have 15 archetypes — The Techno Purist, The Bass Shaman, The Trance Traveler, The Genre Nomad, The Afterparty Monarch, The Lone Wolf, and nine more. A 5-question quiz places you into one, and it weights your matches and stamps a badge on your passport.
10Can I use this if I've never been to a festival before?
Especially then. First-timer onboarding is one of our most common squad types — new ravers matched with experienced ones who volunteered to show them the ropes. There's a dedicated badge for squad members who take a first-timer under their wing.
11Is my data safe?
We store your Spotify listening summary, not raw plays. We don't sell data to anyone. Spotify access is read-only — you can revoke it from Spotify any time. Full data export and account deletion live under Settings, both tested, no dark patterns.
