Sziget Festival 2026

Sziget Festival runs August 5-11, 2026 on Óbudai-sziget ('Shipyard Island'), an island in the Danube in north Budapest, drawing around 450,000 people across seven days. Sziget is more a temporary city than a festival: 50+ stages, a beach, art installations, circus performers, yoga, theater, and a full camping infrastructure that houses 90,000+ overnight. The lineup crosses every genre — pop headliners (Dua Lipa, Post Malone in past years), rock acts, and a strong electronic contingent across the Colosseum, A38, and Telekom Arena stages.

The Colosseum stage is the dedicated electronic venue, hosting names like Adam Beyer, Peggy Gou, Four Tet, and Bicep across the week. Because the festival runs seven days, you can dip in and out — many attendees do 3-4 days rather than the full week.

Sziget is for festival-goers who want variety, a holiday-length duration, and a European city as a home base. It suits first-time festival travelers, mixed-taste groups, and anyone who wants more than music from their festival. Ages skew 19-30, extremely international — reportedly 60% attendees come from outside Hungary. Skip it if you want a concentrated 3-day electronic-only festival; Sziget is deliberately broad and spreads its electronic programming across the week.

Seven-day passes run around €370, three-day passes around €200, single-day around €90. The HÉV suburban train from Budapest city center to the island takes 20 minutes and costs €2. Stay in Budapest District VII (the Jewish Quarter) for the best city access and nightlife on non-festival days.

Camping is fine but central Budapest hotels are cheap enough that commuting in is viable — the HÉV runs until 23:00, then night buses until 05:00. The Colosseum stage doesn't peak until 01:00-04:00; pace yourself and don't try to see every headliner. Thursday and Friday are typically the least crowded main-stage days. Bring a reusable cup; Sziget charges a deposit on all drink cups and it adds up.
