A raver archetype is a personality type that captures how you actually experience a festival — not just which artists you like, but how you move through the weekend. Do you sprint to the main stage the moment gates open, or do you take two hours to set up camp and ease in with a cider? Do you know every act on the lineup from Phase 1, or do you wander until something pulls you in?

The FestivalMates archetype quiz translates five dimensions — energy level, schedule style, top genre, accommodation preference, and side interests — into one of 12 personality types. Each type reflects a real pattern we see across festival-goers, from the high-BPM, no-sleep Rave Machine to the genre-obsessed Techno Purist who drives four hours to stand in the third row for one specific act, to the Social Butterfly who is equally happy whether the DJ is good or bad, as long as the crew is there.

Archetypes come with a rarity tier — Common, Rare, or Legendary — based on how frequently the type appears across all quiz takers. Legendary archetypes represent less than 5% of results. Whether you get a Common or a Legendary, you get a high-quality shareable card you can post to Instagram Stories, TikTok, or anywhere else in a single tap.

Beyond the quiz, your archetype feeds the FestivalMates matching algorithm. When two people plan the same festival weekend, their archetype compatibility is one of several signals — alongside Spotify music taste overlap, shared festivals attended, and vibe settings — that determines how high they rank in each other's Discover feed. A Rave Machine paired with another Rave Machine who both have Tomorrowland on their passport and similar top-50 Spotify artists is a stronger match than two people who just happen to be at the same festival.
