Hideout Festival 2026: The complete first-timer's guide to Croatia's beach party week

Your first Hideout? Here's everything — Zrće Beach, the clubs, the boat parties, what music to expect, and how to make a week in Croatia work as both a festival and a holiday.

TL;DR

Hideout Festival 2026 runs June 30–July 3 at Zrće Beach in Novalja, Pag Island, Croatia. Four days of house, techno, bass music and drum & bass across multiple beach clubs — combined with an Adriatic beach holiday in one of the most beautiful settings in European festival culture. Budget €300–500 including flights, with accommodation options at every price point in Novalja town. If you want a festival that is also a proper holiday, Hideout is the blueprint.

Hideout Festival has a trick that most festivals don't: it's also just a really good holiday.

Zrće Beach on Pag Island in Croatia is one of those places that would attract visitors regardless of the music — white pebbles, turquoise Adriatic water, a town with decent restaurants, and enough accommodation within walking distance to make the logistics easy. The festival is built on top of a beach destination that already works on its own terms.

The result is something unusual: a four-day electronic music festival where "taking a day off" means lying on the beach forty metres from a DJ stage. You don't have to choose between music and holiday. Hideout is both.

Hideout Festival 2026: dates and location

Dates: June 30–July 3, 2026

Location: Zrće Beach, Novalja, Pag Island, Croatia

Zrće Beach

Zrće Beach is a 2km stretch of pebble beach on the northeastern side of Pag Island. Unlike a quiet beach resort, Zrće is Croatia's designated party beach — multiple open-air beach clubs sit along the shore, each hosting music programming year-round. During Hideout, these clubs become the festival venues.

The main Hideout venues are the beach clubs: Papaya, Aquarius, and Noa — each with its own stage, sound system, and vibe. The outdoor settings mean you're watching DJs against an Adriatic backdrop, sometimes literally at the water's edge. Sets continue through the night into the early morning hours.

Novalja Town

The main town on this part of the island, Novalja is about 15 minutes' walk from Zrće Beach (or a quick taxi ride). This is where most festival accommodation is based — apartments, guesthouses, small hotels. The town has supermarkets, restaurants, and bars. During Hideout week, the cafes and restaurants fill with UK and European festival attendees making it a relaxed base.

Getting to Pag Island

Flying to Zadar

The closest airport is Zadar, approximately 45 minutes by car from Novalja via the Pag Bridge. Ryanair, EasyJet, and other carriers fly into Zadar from most European cities. Book early — flights to Zadar in late June fill up because of the Croatian tourist season generally, not just Hideout.

Transfer options: festival shuttle buses from Zadar Airport are often arranged; check the official Hideout website for 2026 transfers. Taxis are around €50–70 for the journey.

Flying to Split

Split Airport is larger and has more flight options, but is about 2 hours from Novalja. You'll need a hire car or pre-arranged transfer. Worth it if Zadar flights are sold out or expensive for your dates.

By car from Central Europe

Pag Island is accessible via the coastal route or the inland motorway through Croatia. From Germany or Austria, allow 8–12 hours depending on your starting point. The drive along the Croatian coast is genuinely beautiful if you have the time to do it.

Accommodation in Novalja

Hideout is not a camping festival in the traditional sense. The accommodation model is apartments and guesthouses in Novalja — which suits the beach holiday aspect perfectly.

Types of accommodation

  • Apartments: The dominant option. Novalja has hundreds of apartments ranging from budget rooms to sea-view flats. Booking through the Hideout official accommodation portal or directly through Booking.com / Airbnb.
  • Guesthouses and private rooms: Family-run accommodation is common on Croatian islands and is usually good value.
  • Hostel-style dorms: A few options exist in and around Novalja for solo travellers or those on a tight budget.

Book early

This cannot be overstated. Pag Island in late June is peak Croatian tourist season even without a festival — add Hideout attendance and good accommodation in Novalja books up months in advance. Start looking now.

Location matters

The closer to Zrće Beach you can stay, the more flexibility you have in your nights. Walking distance from the beach clubs means no transport logistics at 6 AM.

The music

Hideout has historically been strong for UK bass culture — drum and bass, dubstep, garage, UK house — alongside European house and techno. The programming covers a wider range than many electronic festivals because each beach club can run its own identity.

Expect:

  • House and tech house on the main outdoor stages (the majority of the programming)
  • Drum and bass across dedicated nights with serious booking — Hideout is one of the best DnB festival line-ups in Europe
  • Techno on the darker stages and later in the nights
  • Bass music for the crossover moments

Artists who have played previous Hideout editions: Chase & Status, Andy C, Skream, Eric Prydz, Honey Dijon, Amelie Lens, Sub Focus, DJ EZ, Shy FX.

The 2026 lineup will be announced on hideoutfestival.com. Sign up for their newsletter for early announcements.

Boat parties

One of Hideout's signature formats: afternoon boat parties where DJs play on a boat sailing along the coast, with the Adriatic as the backdrop. Tickets sell separately and sell out fast. If you're interested, check for the 2026 boat party programme early.

Budget breakdown

Hideout is mid-range for a European festival when accommodation is included, but the all-in cost is reasonable given that it includes a beach holiday.

ExpenseApproximate Range
Festival ticket (4 days)~€120–180
Flights to Zadar (return, European cities)~€60–180
Accommodation in Novalja (4 nights)~€120–300 (depends on room type and group size)
Food and drinks on site + in town (4 days)~€150–250
Airport transfers~€30–70 return

Total realistically: €500–1,000, with significant range depending on when you book accommodation and flights. Booking both early cuts this substantially.

8 tips for first-timers

1. Book accommodation and flights immediately

The single most important logistical step. Novalja accommodation in late June is finite. Act now.

2. Stay in Novalja, not elsewhere on the island

Some first-timers stay in Pag Town (the main island town, further south) or take a boat from the mainland. Unless you're hiring a car, staying somewhere other than Novalja adds logistics that become painful at 5 AM. Stay close to the beach.

3. Pace the nights

Four nights of beach clubs back to back will break you by night three if you don't pace yourself. The beach is there during the day — use it as recovery. Afternoon swimming, eating properly, sleeping in. The music is better when you're not running on no sleep.

4. Croatia is cash-light but cards work almost everywhere

Most bars and venues now accept cards. Bring some cash for smaller vendors and taxis but you don't need to worry about ATM queues.

5. Water, always

The Adriatic in July is beautiful and you want to enjoy it. Staying hydrated through the day makes the nights significantly better. There's free water on the beach.

6. Boat parties sell out

If you want a boat party, book the moment tickets go on sale. They are genuinely excellent and they genuinely do sell out. Don't leave this until you arrive on the island.

7. Use the town

Novalja has a real restaurant scene with fresh Adriatic fish at reasonable prices. Don't eat exclusively at the festival food vendors — explore the town. An afternoon meal of grilled fish with local wine is part of the Hideout experience.

8. The beach during the day is free

You don't need to be inside a club all day. The Zrće beach strip is public outside of ticketed events. Lie on the beach, swim, and let the DJ set wash over you from the open-air stage next door. This is the Hideout signature.

Finding your crew

Hideout draws a predominantly British and Irish crowd with strong European contingents from Germany, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia. The beach setting makes meeting people easier than most festivals — everyone's in the same cove, sharing sunbeds, swimming in the same water.
